In a time where we are all required to limit human interaction, as primarily social beings, many are struggling with the lack of contact.
There are so many ways in our modern world of staying in touch, which leaves us finding a new found wave of appreciation for the Internet and its unlimited possibilities.
First thing is first, make a list of the people or groups of people you would like to get in contact with.
This may sound ridiculous, but we often in life socialise with different people for different reasons. Even if it’s someone we see regularly we may take that interaction for granted, or even someone we see once in a blue moon, you don’t want to leave anyone out!
A Few Ideas for Staying in Touch & Social Distancing Gatherings:
– Set up Pub Nights
Even throw in a pub quiz, taking it in turns to write the questions. Contact your friends you usually go for a drink with, stock up on your tipple of choice and create your own virtual pub (optional quiz night). If you can convince a loved one also in isolation to pose as a bar manager and serve drinks even better!!
Ella, Peter & Dad have particularly taken to organising Pub Quiz nights with their friends. Peter and Dad use this one.
– Houseparty
House party is a social media plug-in for your browser, but you can also download the app! They have games built in so takes the pressure off creating quizzes for example.
– Family Mealtimes
Sync up your meal times (time zone issues for nomad families) and do a zoom call with all the family while eating your dinner.
So simple but brings back mealtime bonding.
– FaceTime
Even if you’re just having a chat with your friend on your daily walk around the block.
– Whereby
For business or team meetings we use Whereby to get the whole family in one place and able to talk business and set plans into motion and action our actionables. It’s free to sign up, and you can have 4 people in the ‘room’. To have more people you will have to pay, hence why we use this more so for business.
– Skype / Zoom / etc.
Set up conference call for friends to work out, chat, etc. Good for all sorts, plus with the likes of Zoom especially, you can cram a lot more people in so good for catch ups.
