Never Give Up

“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
– Harriet Beecher Stowe

Never give up is a phrase that has circulated within my family for as long as I can remember.

It was passed down from my Granny, and was always supported by my dad in the notion that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

This piece of advice has proven itself incredibly valuable over the years as, the point at which you start to consider giving up is often the peak JUST before you start reaping the rewards of your hard work.

We live in a time where everything is accessible to us, at our fingertips, so having the mantra to not give up when you really want something is the difference between achieving your dreams and not.

As simple as this sounds, just the simple change in mindset makes all the difference.

HOWEVER, one thing that I’ve discovered that never giving up sometimes can mean that you are so focused on not abandoning ship, that often you not read the signs that maybe your path is slightly different to the one you planned for yourself.
Learning how to let go of what no longer serves you, whether that is a job, a relationship, a friend, a way of thinking, is imperative to achieving your goals.

Sometimes we have such a clear idea or plan of how we want our lives to look or how they pan out, that when the universe is offering us a different path, that we hadn’t considered previously, we don’t see that opportunity which has so much more potential for happiness.

If we force things from a place of obligation, fear or materialistic desires, it’s like trying to fit a cube into a circular hole, it just won’t go, because your path is different but the outcome may still be the same, or even better.

By setting goals, but then remaining open minded as to the way in which we get there is the key to succeeding.
Releasing attachment to the outcome or the need to control every aspect gives the opportunity to be pleasantly surprised by the opportunities presented.

And doesn’t that sound more fun!?
To be constantly pleasantly surprised?

Focus, drive, ambition are all imperative, but sometimes in order to not give up on your end goals, you need to take a step back see the bigger picture and look at alternative paths/solutions to the problems standing in your way.

Because only you stand in the way of achieving these goals.

So open your eyes to the world of possibilities that awaits your attention.

Keep your heart at the centre of your goals, ensure you’re coming from the right place, then see what comes your way en route.

Never giving up doesn’t mean saying yes to everything.

Sometimes it means saying no.

Knowing your boundaries.

Recognising what no longer serves you and being prepared to let that go, trusting that it’s in your best interest and another door more aligned with your goal will open.
