Learning How To Go With The Flow

Digital Nomad Travel | Learning To Go With The Flow

If digital nomad travel has taught us one thing, it’s prepare for anything. Dependent on what your lifestyle was like before, shifting to this kind of lifestyle can sometimes force you to release the reigns and let things happen the way the want to.
And that’s not a bad thing.

“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”
– Winnie-the-Pooh

Who doesn’t love a good Winnie the Pooh quote?!

So much wisdom in such a wonderful little bear!

I wanted to talk a little about trust and patience.

These are two HUGE lessons for me that I have been, not so much battling with, but I guess toying with.
Especially when I was travelling as a digital nomad, or ‘digital nomad travel’.

The river knows that it will end up at its final destination, it takes its time, carving meanders through the earth in its path. If it encounters obstructions, it simply finds a way around them, or moves them, continuing on its journey to its final destination.

It’s in flow.

Going with the flow, being adaptable and resourceful.

We all have goals, we set them, and we work towards them. But sometimes, self doubt creeps in, “Am I good enough?” “Do I deserve this?” “What if this isn’t for me?” and one small little thought like this, can snowball and force you off track.

We fall into self sabotage and often do everything in our power to avoid confronting the issues that arise.

We procrastinate working towards our goals because it’s hard, the journey isn’t smooth sailing any more. Sometimes when this happens, our focus shifts, and instead of staying focused on the bigger picture, on our goal and having faith that these obstacles have been brought to us to test us and make us stronger, we focus on the small insignificant details and lose our course.

It is at this point, that we need to remember, that we are in flow.

We know where we want to go and where we want to end up, but the more we focus on the things that stand in our way, the further away our destination appears.

Taking things one step at a time, dealing with moving one obstacle at a time, TRUSTING in yourself at that time, trusting you are making the best decision for yourself with your future goals in mind.

Having patience, that where you want to end up, hasn’t changed, but maybe your path to your destination as taken you on an unexpected journey.

What have you learnt from those obstacles?

Are you now more equipped to achieve your goals due to the learning experience of your journey?

Changing your perspective and how you view the hurdles is what will ultimately lead you to your goals, and perhaps even surpass them, blowing what you had imagined for yourself, out of the water.
