Branding Yourself: Things to Consider | DNF | Lifestyle Business

Key Things to Consider When You Are Branding Yourself

What is Your Personal Brand?

Branding nowadays is so important, especially with a lifestyle business. With more and more people occupying the online space, branding yourself and your own personal brand, is fundamental.   It allows you to attract the right clients for you and repel the wrong ones.

So, where do you start?

Questions to Ask When Branding Yourself

What are your personal interests?
What makes you different to the others in your field?
How do you spend the majority of your time outside of work?
How do you differentiate yourself?

These may seem like rather random questions to ask yourself. However, people who are buying from you want to know exactly who you are, what you like, what you don’t like.
They want YOU in all of your glorious authenticity.

And what is it that makes you authentic?

It’s not the things that you’re doing that are the same as everyone else. It’s your quirks, your flaws, your interests, all thrown into a cooking pot that make you, well, YOU.

Then, once you have a list of these things, you can start to narrow them down into groups/categories. This will allow you to find a running theme enabling you to brand yourself effectively.

You can use all of these pieces of information to them gain inspiration for your logo, or for your brand colours.

Having a strong theme of brand colours/fonts/configurations of posts all helps people to subliminally recognise you. They can identify that it is you calling them to action, and not your competitors.

You can take inspiration from your home, how you’ve decorated it, look in your wardrobe for colours you are naturally drawn to or types of patterns that catch your eye that you can use for inspiration for your brand. Everything you surround yourself with is as a result of your choices. This includes everything you wear, to the colour you paint your walls, the textures you use in your home. Each component can influence how you brand yourself

It can be so difficult to know where to even start when you are building your brand.
It all starts with you. You obviously are your  personal brand

Take pictures of these items, colours, patterns, textures, and build a Pinterest board.
Then search for like images (Pinterest is great at recommending similar images to the ones you’ve pinned so it makes this process much easier!).
This will give you (your web designer/graphic designer) a clear visual to then play off and explore, and SHOULD spark joy because its centred in the things you love.
That’s when you know you’re on the right track!
